About mid morning we got on public transport to take us from San Jose to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. The road to the Caribbean coast meandered through cloud forests and then down to the coastline at Limon, where a south turn and another hour brought us to our destination. The seats were cramped but the drive was lovely passing through several different ecosystems as we headed south east from San Jose. the Caribbean coast is much less developed than the Pacific coastline – you are immediately on Tico time and pura Vida! Good therapy for tired bodies and souls.
We wandered down to the beach after finding our cottages and spent time people watching, enjoying the insanity of the Salsa Brava surfers and going for a swim.
All to the beat of Reggie music playing in the beachfront cafes and bars. Dinner was at a seafood place in town – the best tuna I have ever had along with a fresh salad and vegetables. The temperature is in the eighties, the breezes off the ocean keep everything perfect. 😀
